STATE COLLEGE, Pa.– The President of Penn State University is firing back at recent media reports. Last week, reports suggested that late football coach Joe Paterno knew that Jerry Sandusky sexually abused children as far back as the 1970’s.
PSU President Eric Barron says he’s appalled and blames “incomplete and sensational media reports” for leading to hasty judgments against Paterno and the university.
The firestorm started when a lawsuit involving Penn State and its former insurance company indicated that in 1976 an alleged victim told Paterno that he was molested by Sandusky.
