LANCASTER, Pa. -- One of the biggest concerns many mothers have is the safety of their children.

It's why shots fired into a Lancaster home in the early hours of Tuesday morning has kept one mom up all day and night.

A knock on the door in the middle of the night made for an unexpected wake up call for Laura Burgos and her family.

"I was woken up by my daughter Jarinet, and I went straight downstairs and called 911, because everything was just everywhere, glass, everything," Burgos said.

Burgos nine-year-old daughter Jarinet Gonzalez-Burgos said "and that's when they shot in my house and broke the window."

The details of what happened after midnight at this home in the 600 block of Almanac Avenue in lancaster Tuesday, made Burgos fear for one thing.

"My kids, my main concern. I was really, really worried, scared. I had them all in one room, upstairs, safe," Burgos said.

The broken glass has been repaired, but this family's nerves are still shattered.

"I don't feel too much safe anymore here. I'm scared. When someone knocks on the door my heart starts pounding. I'm nervous. It's not the same here anymore," Burgos said.

"I was scared. I was crying. Every time I hear a knock, my heart beeps," Gonzalez-Burgos said.

Despite having shots fired into her home, Burgos is still able to put on a happy face.

"I'm thankful that none of us got hurt, that we're all safe. I hope nobody around here, or the neighbors has to go through what I went through last night," Burgos said.

Burgos said she has no idea who or why the two men are who came to her house, but believes they knocked on the wrong door.
