LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A Pequea Township man is behind bars after attempting to rob a West Lampeter Township gas station Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 10:35 a.m. at the God Bless America store at 2930 Willow Street Pike.

The suspect identified as Daniel James Barreto, 27 allegedly told the store clerk he had a gun and demanded money. However he left the store empty handed.

A Witness gave a good description of his getaway vehicle, including the vehicle’s registration to West Lampeter Township Police.

Shortly afterwards Southern Regional police pulled over the vehicle on Newswanger Road in Pequea Township, near Barreto’s home.

The witness was taken to the vehicle stop and identified Barreto as the person who attempted the robbery.   Police did not find a gun on Barreto.

Following arraignment Wednesday afternoon, Barreto was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
