Lancaster, Pa. - Some young women from the School District of Lancaster are taking part in the new STEM Sisters Program at the North Museum. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. The program is designed to encourage and empower girls to pursue technical careers by engaging them with various STEM-related activities and programs.

"This is a great opportunity for girls to just be exposed to STEM," said Nora Sampaio, Program and Outreach Coordinator at the North Museum. "When I was in middle school, I didn't have any exposure. I didn't know how cool it was. It's really great to be part of helping girls learn more about STEM concepts, since that was something that was not something that existed when I was younger."

The program is completely free and open to all girls attending Lancaster County schools in grades 6 through 12. You can learn more about the STEM program by going to http://www.northmuseum.org/stemsisters/.
