OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ADAMS COUNTY, Pa.-- It was the 30th year for A.C.E.S. Day at Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12. A.C.E.S. stands for Augmentative Communication and Electronic Devices.

"Every year it seems to grow, we're thrilled about that and every year we try to make it a little bit better each year," Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 Speech and Language Supervisor Janice Tucker said.

Students from Adams, Franklin, and York Counties. The children struggle with verbal communication and some can't talk. The goal of the event is to help them with their communication devices.

"It just warms your heart, when you see two students communicating with each other about what they did today," Tucker said.

About 50 students take part in the event going from station to station. The people running the station encourage the children to use their communication devices to speak to them.

"Today is very important," Franklin Learning Center instructor Lisa McCoy said. "It allows for us to use our skills that we've been working on all year and for years."

She said this event allows the children to use their devices in a non-structured setting. It give them a real life setting.

"It's fun to see them get to do that," she said.

The event was free for the children. People and businesses donate to make it possible.
