WEST MANHEIM TWP., York County, Pa. — Three men from southern Maryland are in York County prison, accused of passing fraudulent prescriptions at the South Hanover WalMart. Police say several fraudulent prescriptions were passed at the WalMart for phenergan with codeine between April 30 and May 11. On May 11, the three suspects left the WalMart after being denied a prescription. A West Manheim Township Police officer attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle in the WalMart lot however it fled until confronted by a second police cruiser in the 1900 block of Baltimore Pike.

Police say the three suspects were wearing black masks on their heads and were found to be in possession of a stolen handgun.
Other Hanover area stores also received similar fraudulent prescriptions during this time frame according to a release from West Manheim Police.

The loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun was reported stolen in South Carolina in April 2015.

The suspects were identified as:
Marquez Delfonte Beasley, 24
Trey Dewayne Reavenell, 20
Christopher Ray Gutierrez, 20

All three were booked at Central Booking and transported to York County Prison. Bail was set at $75,000.00 each.

Phenergan with codeine is prescribed to treat symptoms of a cold, flu, allergies, or other breathing illnesses. When abused it is mixed with soda to make “purple drank”. Purple drank is sipped until euphoria and dissociation from the body occurs and effects will last three and six hours. A soda bottle containing this concoction was found in the vehicle.

Police say they are working with law enforcement agencies in several states including Florida, South Carolina, Maryland and Washington D.C.
