LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – An Elizabethtown man is charged with providing a fatal batch of heroin and Xanax to a 19-year-old man who overdosed in March at his Mount Joy Township home.
Northwest Regional police charged Jarrid D. Baker, 21, with Drug Delivery resulting in Death regarding the March 27 death of 19-year-old Cody Yancey.
Baker was arraigned today on the first-degree felony and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $750,000 bail.
Yancey was found dead about 3:20 a.m. in his bedroom of his Covington Court home. Green wrappers, commonly used to package heroin, were near Yancey’s body.
An autopsy revealed Yancey died of toxic levels of morphine, a byproduct of heroin and Xanax, a sedative used to treat anxiety and depression.
A witness at the home told police Yancey was on probation, wearing an ankle bracelet, and was not allowed to leave the home. The witness told police Baker stopped by the home the previous night to see Yancey about an XBox.
Another witness told police he saw Baker provide Yancey heroin and Xanax.
In a police interview, Baker told Detective Kenneth Henry and Officer Tyler Seidel, lead investigators, that he traded heroin and Xanax for Yancey’s XBox and XBox games.
