LANCASTER, Pa.-- The world's largest chicken BBQ is in the books for another year.

24,000 chicken dinners were served on Saturday by the Sertoma Club of Lancaster. The 64th Annual Sertoma Chicken BBQ was held at Long's Park. The chicken is grilled on pits with special sauce for flavor.

Hundreds of volunteers work to make the chicken and assemble the dinners, complete with chips, a dinner roll, fruit, dessert and a drink. Folks could eat at the park or drive through and take their meals to-go.

"It is a tradition for a lot of people. We actually have quite a few people from other states that make the journey here just because they did it when they were younger, they love the chicken and they literally drive in from most of the bordering states," says Barry Witmer, General Chair of the 2016 BBQ.

The Sertoma Club of Lancaster held its first chicken BBQ in 1953 and it is always held on the third Saturday of May. More than 70-percent of the money raised goes toward upkeep and improvements at Long's Park.
