SUMMER STRETCH CONTINUES
A strong ridge of high pressure off the southeast coast continues to pump in the heat. With the winds shifting to the southwest, moisture will increase causing the humidity to climb. Expect temperatures to warm into the lower to middle 80s again. Between 3pm and 8pm, there is a threat for thunderstorms to develop. They will have the potential to produce brief heavy downpours. Temperatures climb higher Friday and there is a risk for isolated afternoon thunderstorms.
Sunshine continues resulting in a very high UV Index. Protect your skin by applying sunscreen before heading out.
Avoid burning by minimizing your time during the hottest part of the day, which is from 10AM until 4PM.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND OUTLOOK:
The summer pattern remains through the holiday weekend! Highs climb to the middle and upper 80s on Saturday. There is a very small thunderstorm threat in the afternoon. However, Sunday, a few, afternoon thunderstorms are likely to bubble up. Highs still climb into the lower to middle 80s, which is above seasonable averages. We continue to keep a close eye on the Memorial Day holiday. We are watching two systems, a cold front from the north, and an area of low pressure across the southeast coast. Models continue to indicate an increase in clouds, with an increased threat for showers and thunderstorms. Highs, while not as warm, climb to the lower 80s.
NEXT WEEK:
As of now, just a small shower threat is expected for Tuesday. We knock a few degrees of temperatures, which warm to the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Wednesday is looking great with sunshine and dry weather. Highs rebound into the lower to middle 80s.
