DERRY TWP., Pa. - Dozens of residents sounded off Thursday on proposed changes to the township's zoning ordinance, saying they are concerned that too much development could ruin their community.

Residents say there's a lot of potential change in what Derry Township could look like in the proposal, and they want to keep discussing it to make sure it is done right, even invoking Milton Hershey in their input.

"He envisioned a place where people could work, live and play and that version included farmland, open spaces, recreational opportunities that were essential in creating the special place that we all choose now to live and raise our children," resident Dale Holt said.

Township officials say the changes are part of an ongoing process. An updated version of the ordinance will be reviewed later this summer.
