LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – Students believed responsible for two separate bomb threats at a Manheim Central elementary school have been identified. That’s according to a post on the district’s website. In both cases students and faculty at the Doe Run on Gramby were evacuated after notes were found in a bathroom.  Police with bomb sniffing K-9’s searched the building and came up empty. The school has 300 students K through 4th grade.

District Superintendent Norman Hatten posted this statement:

“We have identified the student responsible for the May 4th and the student responsible for the June 1st bomb threats.  Disciplinary action will be taken; however, as you are aware, the specifics of individual student discipline cannot be shared.  We are working diligently to identify the student(s) responsible for the May 18 threat.”

So far all the bomb threats have proven to be false, but district officials and Manheim Borough Police are taking the investigation seriously.

In another statement by Dr. Hatten:

“If criminal charges are filed, it is up to the police as to what information is shared, and district imposed student discipline cannot be shared publically.  In regards to prevention, staff members are having age appropriate conversations with students. We are constantly reevaluating bathroom procedures and changes have been communicated to parents in the form of letters sent home with their child(ren). An after action review is conducted after each threat to determine what was done right, what was done wrong, what can be improved, and what additional measures could be put in place to prevent future incidents.”

A student responsible for a bomb threat on May 27 was identified and disciplined by the school district.
