GREENCASTLE, Pa.-- Taking a ride for veterans, thousands of bikers hit the road in Franklin County on Sunday. The roar of motorcycles could be heard for miles around the area, as they rode to raise money for hospitalized veterans.

The bikers started in Greencastle and traveled all the way to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The Annual Operation God Bless America Ride raises money for the facility's recreation fund and items to make the veterans more comfortable, like exercise bikes, televisions and even shaving essentials.

"None of us get any money for what we do so it's all our time and energy spent and all of the money goes to the patient fund. We don't keep money, and we don't hold it over it's whatever we make it goes right there," says Mary Anne Davenport, Treasurer of Operation God Bless America Ride.

This year's ride raised some $20,000 for the veterans. This is the 26th year for the event.
