HARRISBURG, Pa. – City police are investigating a weekend shooting near a playground. Officers responded at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday to a call from Harrisburg Hospital about a 22 year old year old man, brought in by private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The victim reported that he was at the Emerald Street playground at North 4th & Emerald Streets, with his two children.  He heard a single gunshot and then ran towards Woodbine Street leaving his children alone.  When he reached Atlas and Emerald, his leg began to hurt.  He then flagged down a passing motorist and got a ride to Harrisburg Hospital.

Officers also responded to the 2300 block of N 5th Street for a report of several shots fired and a male shot after arriving at the hospital.  Officers discovered multiple casings on the street and a blue minivan that had several bullet holes in it.

The vehicle was towed for processing and to determine if it was involved in any way.  The investigation continues.

Anyone with information on either case can call the Dauphin County Police dispatch at (717) 558-6900 and ask for a City detective.
