LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A Lancaster City man will serve up to 20 years for rape of a 17-year-old girl at his North Broad Street home in April 2015.

Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro sentenced Jose Flores-Medina to 8 ½ to 20 years in state prison.  A jury convicted Flores-Medina in March of Rape, Unlawful Contact of a Minor, and Corruption of a Minor.

In court Monday morning, Flores-Medina, 40, continued to claim he’s innocent. A family member argued the same to Judge Totaro.

The judge responded by saying the sentencing hearing isn’t about Flores-Medina’s guilt. Totaro cited “overwhelming evidence” of guilt presented at trial.

The victim, now 18, was among witnesses Assistant District Attorney Christopher Sarno called to testify at trial.

Flores-Medina was a friend of the victim’s friend. He covered the victim’s mouth to prevent her from screaming during the sexual assaults.

Flores-Medina took the stand during the trial and denied committing the crimes.

As part of sentence, he must register his whereabouts with police, under Megan’s Law, for the rest of his life.
