WEEKEND OUTLOOK:

The Storm Prediction Center has the area under a SLIGHT RISK for thunderstorms to become severe.

Storm Timeline D2

A warm front pushing through by morning will bring an increase in the heat and humidity.   There could be some early morning showers, then sunshine breaks out.  During the afternoon, an upper level piece of energy swings through bringing a chance  or strong to severe thunderstorms.  Frequent lightning, heavy downpours and damaging winds are possible.  Hail is a possibility too.   Not everyone will experience thunderstorms.  Models do not show a distinct line of storms but more isolated to a few in nature.

DMA Timeline Map

Set up is tricky so just keep mindful of changes in the weather and have a back up plan to head in doors if need be for a bit.  More typical June weather expected with highs climbing back to the middle to upper 80s, even 90 degrees in spots.

Sunday is drier with partly cloudy skies.  The breeze will pick up and temperatures are still warm in the lower 80s.  Humidity decreases late in the day as drier air spills south across the region.

NEXT WEEK:

Drier air works in for Monday.  Skies are partly sunny, and highs are back into the 70s.  Plenty of sunshine, along with warming temperatures expected Tuesday.  Our next threat for showers and thunderstorms is Wednesday and Thursday, highs are warmer too in the lower to middle 80s.
