UNSETTLED END TO THE WEEK
We have a break from the showers this afternoon and early evening. However, showers return late this evening and overnight. The heaviest falling between 11pm and 4am. By the morning, spotty showers will linger then we’ll get a break. Through the afternoon Thursday, spotty showers will be possible but the best chance is in the late evening and overnight. Some of the showers linger into early Friday. Easterly flow, cloud cover, and showers will keep temperatures in the lower to middle 70s. After the showers end Friday morning, the sunshine breaks out mixing in and out of the clouds. Drier air works in lowering humidity in time for the weekend. Highs rebound to the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
2016 U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT
If you plan on watching the U.S. Open Championship on FOX43 or heading to Oakmont, PA to experience the tournament in person, be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms. Some storms may be strong to severe. Main concern is damaging winds. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a SLIGHT risk for severe weather. Play could be delayed during the late afternoon and early evening if storms are in the area due to lightning and strong winds.
FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND:
A dry, comfortable weekend is in store for dads. Not only will it feel more comfortable, but plenty of sunshine is expected both days. Temperatures are warmer in the lower 80s Saturday, even warmer for Sunday topping out in the middle 80s.
SUMMER ARRIVES:
Summer arrives officially Monday and it will feel like it. The heat and humidity return as a strong ridge builds in across the area. Highs soar through the 80s to near 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. A weak boundary drops in Tuesday and could trigger a thunderstorm or two. Highs are still warm in the middle to upper 80s.
