DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – After entering a no contest plea to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a 15 year old boy, Michael Minium, 39, was sentenced by a Dauphin County Court Judge today to five to ten years in state prison.

Police alleged that Minium engaged in an ongoing sexual relationship with the minor when Minium was in his mid-30’s.

The investigation revealed that the child was given permission to live with Minium by the child’s parents.  Minium admitted to the relationship but contended that the child was 16 when it began, 16 is the legal age of consent in Pennsylvania.  During the sentencing proceeding the Commonwealth acknowledged that there was some ambiguity to when the sexual contact began, but explained that the investigation determined that it began shortly before the child’s 16th birthday.

Minium also pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person because he was HIV positive and engaged in unprotected sexual contact with the juvenile.  The juvenile told the police that he was aware of the STD and chose to engage in contact with Minium despite such knowledge.

Minium also entered a guilty plea to possessing sexually explicit photographs of a second 17 year old juvenile, he received a consecutive 66 months of probation for those charges.  Minium will also be subject to lifetime registration under Pennsylvania Megan’s Law statute.
