According to Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, two passengers are confirmed dead at University Airport from an early morning crash.

The crash happened when a small aircraft was on approach to the airport.

Aircraft rescue and local fire and emergency responders are on scene. The accident remains under investigation.

UPDATE — 11:45 a.m.

The aircraft crashed in a wooded area east of University Park Airport. The FAA and NTSB are responding to the crash and are en route. Additional information will be made available pending the investigation.

The two passengers in the airplane, pilot and passenger, have been pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
UPDATE10:54 a.m.
Two passengers have been confirmed on the aircraft. Fire and emergency management personnel have secured the crash site.
The Federal Aviation Administration out of Harrisburg and the National Transportation Safety Board out of Ashburn, Virginia, are en route to the crash site and will be conducting the investigation.

University Park Airport reopened at 10:20 a.m. Thursday.
Emergency officials remain on the scene of the crash.
