DRUMORE TWP., Pa.– A Lancaster man is facing charges for driving under the influence when he caused a crash that killed a man last year.

Adgery Negron-Alvarado, 25, is charged with counts of vehicular homicide while DUI, causing a crash while not licensed, Driving Under the Influence and other related charges from a Nov. 15 crash on Lancaster Pike (Route 272).

Negron-Alvarado was driving north and attempting to negotiate a left curve when his vehicle swerved. As he attempted to steer back onto the road, the vehicle drifted into the southbound lane where the cars collided nearly head-on.

Richard Owen, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene and State Police determined that Negron-Alvarado was driving over 90 mph and showed obvious signs of impairment.

Negron-Alvarado will face the charges in Lancaster County Court, and if convicted, the homicide by vehicle while DUI charge carries a mandatory minimum 3-year prison sentence.
