LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. -An online video chat leads to a Denver Borough man confessing to having child pornography. Michael Kovall surrendered on Tuesday at District Judge Nancy Hamill’s office in Stevens.  East Cocalico police Detective Keith Neff charged Kovall, 23, with felony counts of sexual abuse of a child (child pornography) and criminal use of a computer.

Police became involved in the case after receiving a tip that Kovall appeared in a Facebook video attempting to chat with an underage girl.

The “underage girl” was a man who posed as a girl in online chatrooms and invited Kovall to a private video chat, which Kovall accepted.

The man recording the video chat posted it onto a Facebook page. The tipster then recognized Kovall as the man on the video and called police.

There was no criminal activity on the video, but Neff contacted Kovall to discuss what happened.

Kovall admitted to viewing about 50 images of child pornography in the past year. A search of Kovall’s laptop computer uncovered a dozen such images.
