Unconscious overdose victim revived, arrested on drug charge

CARLISLE, Pa. – An unconscious overdose victim is revived over the weekend, then arrested on a drug charge. The male victim was discovered at 12:48 p.m. Friday in the 100 of West High Street.

Through efforts by police officers and EMS personnel, the man was revived and was identified as 29 year oldĀ  Derek Varner of Carlisle. It was determined that Varner had overdosed on controlled substances.

During the subsequent investigation, Varner was found to be in possession of additional contraband including suspected cocaine, prescription medication to which he did not have a prescription, and an electronic scale.

Police then charged Varner with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
