Man facing charges after breaking into home, assaulting woman

HARRISBURG, Pa.– A man is facing assault, kidnapping, burglary and other related charges after assaulting a woman and fleeing the scene on May 29.

Jyrell Davenport was taken into custody by police after a brief foot chase and placed in Dauphin County Prison.

Police responded to 236 S. 29th St. at 6:00 a.m. after receiving a 911 hang up call. When they arrived, they found that a male broke into the home and assaulted a female occupant. At the time, the female was not initially found. However, police spotted Davenport driving a vehicle back to the scene of the crime, before spotting officers and fleeing.

After an investigation, police determined that Davenport assaulted the victim and broke her jaw, which knocked her unconscious. He then placed her inside the vehicle, where she was able to regain consciousness and meet police.

Davenport will now face charges in court.
