LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – The Manheim Township School Board is expected to officially welcome Dr. Robin L. Felty as the district’s new superintendent. The Board of School Directors will vote on a four year contract with Dr. Felty at a special meeting on Thursday, June 30th.

“I feel both honored and privileged for the opportunity to lead the Manheim Township School District and continue its attainment of educational excellence,” said Felty in anticipation of the upcoming vote.

Felty is no stranger to Manheim Township. She is an experienced school administrator who has served as such for over 15 years in neighboring Lancaster County school districts, including as the assistant superintendent at Warwick and Ephrata Area school districts. In addition to her work in those districts, Felty also served as the supervisor of special education at Manheim Township School District from 2000 to 2002.

“Dr. Felty is an excellent fit for the Manheim Township School District. She possesses the skills, drive and vision the board is looking for in our next leader,” said board president Bill Murry. “The board was impressed with her enthusiasm, her expertise and her firsthand knowledge of the district. We believe Dr. Felty will be committed to our students, our staff and our entire district. We are also very appreciative of the support our community has shown the board during this very important process.”

Felty began her career as an elementary learning support teacher at Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit. She also taught a secondary learning support classroom at Annville-Cleona School District and an elementary learning support classroom at Warwick School District, following which she was appointed supervisor of special education for two years at Manheim Township.

In addition, Felty has served as the supervisor of secondary special education at Central Dauphin School District and as an educational consultant for Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN). As mentioned previously, she served most recently as the assistant superintendent of Warwick School District from 2010 to the present, prior to which she was the assistant superintendent at Ephrata School District for three years.

Felty earned her Doctorate in Education from Immaculata University and her Masters of Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College. She also earned her Masters of Education from Millersville University and Bachelor of Education from Eastern Mennonite University.

The MTSD received 23 applications for the position and from those, nine highly qualified candidates were selected to be interviewed. After an exhaustive interview process, the board began a thorough vetting of its top candidate and conducted a rigorous and extensive background and reference check on Felty.

The board and Dr. Felty are still determining her official start date but she will be in place as the superintendent of schools for Manheim Township School District when students return to school in September.
