Lower Allen Township, PA – A Harrisburg man is facing arson charges after police caught him trying to set a tree on fire. Brian Mullins caught the attention of police officers who were keeping an eye on the Rossmoyne Business Park after several fires were reported in the area in the past few months. Police noticed Mullins taking an inordinate number of of smoke breaks throughout the night of July 3rd. Mullins is an employee at Vibra Health, 5001 Louise Drive.

At one point, police say Mullins went into the woods to the rear of the business and was confronted by an officer as he appeared to be attempting to set a tree on fire. The officer saw a small fire erupt and contacted additional units to take Mullins into custody. He was arrested without incident and the remnants of the fire were put out with a fire extinguisher.

The previous fires included brush fires in the tree line and dumpster fires at local businesses, culminating in a house fire on nearby Ravenwood Road.

Lower Allen Township Police had been using a variety of surveillance equipment and platforms on loan from the Attorney General’s Office, and had also been assisted by Upper Allen Township Police
in recent weeks.

Mullins’ connection to the other fires is still under investigation. He was transported to Cumberland County Prison where he was arraigned and bail set at $50,000.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Corporal DJ Sentman, at 717-975-7575, ext 1516 or via dispatch, at 717-238-9676.
