Friday is hot and humid, with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. A few could be strong to severe.

HEAT, HUMIDITY, & STORMS: Our next cold front approaches Friday, and this brings a more widespread chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon hours. A few stronger to severe storms are possible. Damaging severewinds and hail are the primary threats with any stronger to severe thunderstorms that form. It’s day 3 of temperatures in the 90s, making it the first heat wave of July! Highs hover near the 90 degree mark, with a few spots nudging higher. It feels like the middle to upper 90s when the humidity is included!

A small drop in humidity levels are expected through the weekend. It still feels muggy.

WEEKEND NOT AS HOT: A secondary cold front swings through Saturday, and this keeps the afternoon shower and thunderstorm chances in place on Saturday. We’ll still monitor conditions for some strong to severe thunderstorm activity. Afternoon temperatures are still quite warm, with readings hovering in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Sunday the humidity levels finally come down a bit, and temperatures are seasonably warm. Expect readings in the lower to middle 80s.

HEAT RETURNS NEXT WEEK: A strong ridge of high pressure returns to the region, and this brings back the warmth and high humidity through early next week. Slight warming takes place Monday under plenty of sunshine. Readings are in the middle to upper 80s. Temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees again Tuesday under plenty of sunshine. Wednesday and Thursday bring even more humidity and toasty temperatures. There’s a small chance for a few pop up thunderstorms, but most locations look dry. Temperatures reach the lower 90s.

Have a great weekend!
