Man killed in car vs trailer crash on southbound I-81 in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. – Emergency crews, including two medical helicopters, respond to a fatal crash on southbound Interstate 81 near miler marker 17.5 in Greene Township.

The crash involved a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle with entrapment. It happened at about 1:35 p.m.

State Police say a Florida woman headed north on I-81 lost control of her Cadillac, crossed the grass median and slammed into a southbound a tractor trailer. Both the woman driver and a male passenger were entrapped.

The 73 year old driver was flown to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Her passenger was taken to Chambersburg Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the big rig was not injured.

Southbound Interstate 81 at mile marker 17.5 was closed hours while PSP investigated the crash.
