DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – Zachary Jackson, 23, plead guilty in Dauphin County Court today to Persons not to Possess a Firearm. Jackson was immediately sentenced to 4 to 8 years in a State Correctional Institution by the Dauphin County Judge Deborah E. Curcillo.
The case began when Steelton Borough Police accompanied Dauphin County Adult Probation Officers to serve a detainer warrant on an individual at 147 North Front Street in Steelton. As they approached the home, Officer Kevin Martin could see Jackson through an open window holding a silver and black handgun.
Officers drew their weapons, which cause Jackson to drop the gun and attempt to flee. He was found inside a bedroom closet when police entered the home. The gun was recovered and was found to be loaded, with another bag of ammunition beside the gun.
Jackson is a person not to possess a firearm due to prior felony convictions for drugs.
