HARRISBURG, Pa. – Mayor Eric Papenfuse today vetoed Bill 14 passed by the Harrisburg City Council on July 5th that allocates Community Block Grant Funds for fiscal year 2016.

Mayor Papenfuse said that his primary objection was the lack of public debate of substantial amendments to the bill.

In a statement the Mayor said:

“Even if one disagrees with what I believe to be the clear intent of this regulation, it is fundamental to our democracy and civic life that our residents have an opportunity to comment on proposals of the governing body before they become law. That did not happen here.”
