Man shot in the neck after trying to avoid argument in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa- Harrisburg police are investigating a shooting that left one man with a gunshot wound to the neck.

According to police, just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the area of N. 3rd and Herr Streets.

When police arrived they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck area. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is expected to recover, police said.

Upon investigation, police learned that the victim and his friend were along the 700 block of N. 3rd Street when they were approached by an unknown  white or light-skinned male.

The three males began to get into a  verbal altercation.

The victim and his friend tried to walk away from the argument, when they heard gun shots. The victim was struck in the neck.

Police say the victim and his friend fled down Oliver Alley before they split up.

Police were unable to locate a crime scene. They are seeking anyone with information about this investigation. Persons with information are asked to call Dauphin County Dispatch at 717-558-6900 and ask to speak with a Detective.

Dauphin County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2000 for information leading to an arrest in this incident.
