Missing man found dead near train tracks in Penn Township

PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Police are investigating after a body of a 48-year-old man was discovered in a wooded area near a set of railroad tracks in Penn Township on Thursday evening.

The man, who’s name is being withheld, was found approximately 50 feet away from the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in the vicinity of Junction Road and West Sun Hill Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police say the man had been reported missing by family members earlier in the day.

Northern Lancaster Regional Police recovered a gun at the scene and other items related to the incident. Investigators say there is no threat to the community.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s office is working to determine the cause and manner of his death.
