ELLICOTT CITY, Md.–  Parts of Maryland are under a State of Emergency, after heavy rainfall caused flash flooding on Saturday night. Two people were killed in the flooding; one is from Lebanon.

According to authorities in Howard County, Maryland, the body of 35-year old Jessica Watsula was found on the Baltimore-Howard County line Sunday morning.

Watsula’s brother told police that he and other members of their family were together in Old Ellicott City when the storm hit. As they were trying to leave, rising flood waters swept away their vehicle. All of the family members, accept Jessica, were able to escape.

Authorities say 38-year old Joseph Anthony Blevins, of Windsor Mill, Maryland, was also killed in the flooding.

First responders spent much of the night rescuing people who were trapped in vehicles. The storms knocked out power to more than 10,000 customers across Maryland.
