HARRISBURG, Pa.--A water main break in Harrisburg has a portion of Cameron Street shut down.

The break happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. along the 1400 block of North Cameron Street near Calder Street.

Currently, Cameron Street is shut down between Herr and Maclay Street.

The water main break is affecting seven properties between Verbeke Street and Riley Street and the William Howard Day homes.

More than 350 people live in the William Howard Day homes. The Harrisburg Housing Authority said the residents do have water but on low pressure.

All the properties are under a boil water advisory.

A Capital Region Water Representative said the main that broke is from 1884. He said the average age of their infrastructure is 80-years-old.

As of Thursday evening, they are unsure when the repairs will be done.

"It's one of those things that we need to excavate the main, Capital Region Water's Community Outreach Manager, Andrew Bliss. "We need to see what kind of repairs are needed. We can't provide an estimate on when it's going to be complete, but we will be working until the repair is done."

The streets will remain closed until the repairs are done. Customers can follow Capital Region Water on social media to stay updated.
