Jury selection for Kane's criminal trial began Monday at the Montgomery Courthouse, lasting well into the evening.
Over 100 potential jurors were expected to be questioned by Kane's defense team and prosecutors, led by Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele. As of 5:15 p.m., approximately 50 had been taken into back rooms to be interviewed. They were then placed back into the courtroom.
Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy also read a list of around 50 to 60 potential witnesses to the possible jury members. According to the Legal Intelligencer, the list of witnesses includes former prosecutors, Kane former staffers, and journalists.
Kane is on trial after prosecutors say she leaked secret grand jury information from to a 2009 case, then lied about it while under oath to a different grand jury in 2014.
The list of potential jurors, according to the Legal Intelligencer, includes Kane's former spokesperson Chuck Ardo, former deputy attorneys general Frank Fina and Marc Costanzo, and Kane's First Deputy Bruce Beemer. Former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery, who retired after getting caught up in the so-called "Porngate" e-mail scandal, is also reportedly on the witness list.
Judge Demchick-Alloy told jurors to expect the trial to last at least through the end of Friday.
