WEST MANCHESTER TWP., Pa.  – The reforms from Act 39, the end result of the state's liquor modernization efforts, are starting to become evident at the state's Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.

At the opening of the newest state store Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced the expansion of Sunday store hours. The 188 stores that are open Sundays are currently open from 12 to 5 p.m., but beginning this Sunday, those stores and 94 others will operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. 26 additional state stores will operate on Sundays by Labor Day weekend, according to a PLCB news release.

"We're really establishing a new retail industry in Pennsylvania and while we want to make wine to go sales in grocery and convenience stores a reality as quickly as possible for Pennsylvania consumers we're also committed to doing it right," PLCB executive director John Metzger said.

At the store opening, the PLCB announced a partnership with the Pennsylvania Lottery to allow the sale of lottery tickets at some state stores.

"By having a presence at so many stores, we're going to increase convenience for players, we're going to generate more money and foot traffic for these LCB stores, and we're going to generate, most importantly for us, more money for older Pennsylvanians," PA Lottery director Drew Svitko said.
