PERSEID METEOR SHOWERS

Tonight is peak viewing for the Perseid Meteor shower.  You need to be sure you are in max darkness with no street or house lights nearby.  Head out after midnight into the early mornings before dawn.  Partly cloudy skies should allow for enough breaks to view the meteors, which are expected to be more numerous this year.  You will deal with stuffy, thick air with very warm temperatures too.

EXCESSIVE HEAT THROUGH WEEKEND

Sunday, a cold front slowly moves in bringing more widespread showers and thunderstorms. While still hot, temperatures fall back a few degrees closer to 90 degrees. Once again we are dealing with heat indices over 100 degrees so an Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for York, Lancaster, Dauphin and Lebanon Counties.  Limited activity outdoors and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.  Be sure to check on the elderly, children and those who do not have air conditioning.
NEXT WEEK:

The cold front gets hung up and becomes stationary right along the Maryland-Pennsylvania line. Temperatures are still near 90 Monday, with a stray shower or thunderstorm, but more of the area will see highs back in the 80s. Tuesday through Thursday, the front is still close enough to keep a daily shower or thunderstorm threat around. High temperatures each day are in the 80s. While the humidity drops some, the sticky feel lingers too.
