Former Penn State Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky Appears In Court For Appeals Hearing On His Child Sex Abuse Conviction

Former Penn State University football coach Jerry Sandusky has been called to the stand. It’s the first time the 72-year old has taken the stand.

He was convicted four years ago for sexually abusing 10 boys and was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison. He filed an appeal for the conviction blaming his trial lawyers.

When asked he if victim testimony from four years ago was true, he said, “absolutely not!”

According to court documents, some of the topics expected to be discussed include remarks made by the prosecution during their closing arguments in 2012, claims his trial counsel was ineffective for not calling him to testify, for their decision to waive his preliminary trial and also for allowing him to do a network interview.

Friday’s hearing is one of 3 hearings scheduled by the judge. The other hearings will take place August 22nd and 23rd. The hearing on Friday starts at 9:30 at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
