JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Northern York County Regional Police have identified the man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Jackson Township, York County early Saturday.

The driver, 22-year-old John Randolph Smith, of Spring Grove, was pronounce dead at the scene, according to police reports. His passenger, an unidentified Spring Grove man, was taken to York Hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash happened just before 3:45 a.m. along the 800 block of South Lake Road.

Police say Smith lost control of his SUV, crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and hit a utility pole.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
