A BREAK IN THE HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
A cold front slowly approaching brings showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Ahead of the front, temperatures climb once again to the lower 90s. It will be our 7th straight day of 90-degree temperatures, and makes it the longest heat wave of the year.
A few storms may be capable of producing damaging winds. For that reason, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern part of the area under a SLIGHT RISK, and the southern part of the area under a MARGINAL RISK. The risk is slightly higher for areas in yellow. The best time frame for the thunderstorms is during the afternoon and evening.
By Wednesday, the temperatures are not expected to be as hot, in fact, it is the first break in the 90-degree streak of days. Highs range from the middle abd upper 80s. You’ll notice the humidity is not as oppressive but it remains muggy. We are dry with partly sunny skies. Thursday is mainly dry, but a shower or thunderstorm may pop up. Highs are more seasonable in the lower to middle 80s. We heat things back up for Friday as temperatures are back to the middle and upper 80s. The humidity comes back up too.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
Expect the weekend to be a hot and more humid couple of days. Showers and thunderstorms threaten both days with the higher chance Sunday. Highs Saturday climb to the upper 80s. We back temperatures down into the lower to middle 80s for the second half of the weekend as a cold front brings more widespread showers and thunderstorms. The cold front brings welcomed changes for the following week with a more seasonal stretch of weather for the area.
