LANCASTER, Pa.– A Lancaster teenager is set to serve up to 10 years in prison for robbing a city store in 2015.
Temar Boggs, 18, was sentenced to 40 months to 10 years in state prison on Friday.
Boggs and an accomplice robbed El Coqui Market on N. Plum St. on December 17, 2015. Boggs is said to have racked the slide on his gun while demanding money from a clerk inside.
Boggs and his accomplice, who served as a lookout, fled the scene with $200.
In court, Boggs and his attorney said he was drawn into the wrong crowd after he gained notoriety from helping police during a 2013 kidnapping in Lancaster Township. Boggs assisted more than 100 first responders in 2013 to help search, and rescue a five-year-old girl.
However, Assistant District Attoney, Christopher P. Larsen said that Boggs has always had a strong support system of relatives, but still made the choice to rob the store.
While Boggs’ defense asked fo a mitigated sentence, Judge Howard Knisely ordered a standard-range sentence.
