YORK COUNTY, Pa. –  A man who fired a shotgun at a State Trooper during a robbery last Spring is headed for trial.  Thomas A. Markowski, 57, was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing late this afternoon in York County Court.  Markowski is charged with Criminal Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Robbery and Recklessly Endangering another Person.

Markowski, will next appear at an arraignment hearing at an undetermined date. Until then he remains at York County Prison on $2 million bail.

The Trooper, pushed the barrel weapon away, but Markowski was able to fire off one round. Simultaneously, the Trooper fired his service firearm, hitting Markowski in the chest.
