EPHRATA, Pa.– An Ephrata man was arrested after what seems to be a random, unsolicited attack of a man in his front yard.

Leif Rowles, 50, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Burglary after the incident that occurred in the first block of Talon Drive on Monday evening.

According to police, the investigation indicates that the victim, a 52-year-old man, was standing in the front yard of his Talon Drive home. Rowles, who was walking past the house, approached the victim and for no apparent reason, began to physically attack the victim.

The victim retreated into the attached garage of his home, but Rowles followed and continued his assault. A neighbor heard the disturbance and was able to assist the victim in subduing Rowles.

The victim, who stated he did not know Rowles, suffered cuts and open wounds to various part of his body and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment.

Rowles was taken into custody and was awaiting arraignment while at Lancaster County Central Booking.
