SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Three people were arrested Thursday after police caught them using heroin inside a parked vehicle in Swatara Township, according to police reports. Investigators also discovered three young children in the back seat.

Martin Kidd Jr., 27, Alexandra Kay, 23, and Katelyn McQait, all of York Haven, are charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Officers were patrolling the 2200 block of Paxton Street when they spotted a suspicious SUV in a parking lot.

Authorities found the trio in the front seat, injecting themselves with heroin.

Detectives learned they had recently purchased heroin in Harrisburg city, with the children in the vehicle. After getting the drugs, they decided to pull over in a parking lot and get high, police said.

Kidd and Kay are the biological parents of all three children, investigators said. The children were taken into custody by caseworkers from Dauphin County Children and Youth.
