Man dies after Lancaster City stabbing

LANCASTER, Pa. – City police responded at about 9:38 p.m. to a reported stabbing near the intersection of Conestoga and Beaver Streets.

The victim reportedly suffered a stab wound in the chest.  The male victim was identified as 20-year-old Hiram Calderon of Lancaster, and he was transported to a local hospital. Attempts to save his life were unsuccessful, and Calderon was later pronounced dead.

Detectives have learned that there was a verbal dispute that became physical between the victim and another man. During the altercation, Calderon was stabbed in the torso at least once, and collapsed a short distance away.

The man who allegedly stabbed Calderon remained at the scene, and was at Lancaster City Police station to be interviewed. At this time, investigators are trying to determine what started the confrontation between the men and what led to the victim being stabbed.

The person of interest was later released.
