HARRISBURG, Pa. – Harrisburg Police assisted the Harrisburg Fire Department at a house fire on State Street Wednesday morning.  Large amounts of black smoke was billowing out of the structure when police and firefighters arrived on the scene.

Officers secured the street as firefighters went in to smother the flames.  Once the fire was extinguished the HPD arson investigator entered the building to determine what caused the fire.  It was at this time that a determination was made that the fire involved an illegal marijuana growing operation.  The investigator said that several electric heating lamps were connected to the same outlet which started the fire.

Police are looking to speak to Luther Hill, 44 that owns the residence.

Anyone that with information regarding the fire is asked to call police at (717) 255-3181.
