NEW YORK, NY.– Multiple sources are reporting that former NFL quarterback, Tim Tebow, has reached an agreement on a minor league deal to play baseball for the New York Mets.

Tebow, 29, recently held a tryout for Major League teams and has been working out with former Major Leaguers Chad Moeller and pitcher David Aardsma. While reviews of his tryout were mixed, Tebow did enough to garner an offer for the Mets.

Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner, most recently had a training camp tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles last summer, but was cut before the regular season began. Previously, Tebow was drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos in 2010, and played for the New York Jets in 2012.

Since his last appearance in the NFL, Tebow has worked as a college football broadcaster for ESPN.

Tebow is expected to begin his career in the outfield in the Mets’ minor league system, playing in either the Instructional League or Arizona Fall League.
