SAVILLE TOWNSHIP, PERRY COUNTY–Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a convenience store in Perry County on Friday night.

It happened at the FBF convenience store located at 6746 Veterans Way in Saville Township.

A man, armed with an axe handle, walked into the store just before 10 p.m.

Police say the suspect grabbed a female store clerk by the hand and demanded money. Other employees were inside the store and told authorities the man told them he wasn’t going to hurt them, but he wanted the deposit bags.

One of the employees hit the panic alarm and told the suspect police were on their way. The man initially tried to flee through the front door but was unable to exit the store, police said.

The man ran through back door and was last seen heading towards Route 17, according to police reports.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid-30’s or 40’s, approximately 6-feet tall with dark hair. Witnesses reported the man looked dirty and disheveled. The man was last seen wearing a long dark coat, knit cap, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police-Newport at 717-567-3110 or Perry County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-210-8477.
