CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.– A teacher at Cumberland Valley Christian School has resigned after students found her loaded gun in a school bathroom, and is now facing child endangerment charges.

Beth Dixon, 63, accidentally left a pistol in a restroom in the school after removing the gun from its holster to use the facilities.

After forgetting it there, four children between the ages of 6-8 used the same single uni-sex bathroom, with the final child informing his parent. That parent contacted another teacher, at which time Dixon remembered she had left the pistol and retrieved it.

She immediately called a school administrator to alert them to the incident and immediately offered her resignation. The school accepted her resignation a day after weighing their options and analyzing the situation.

According to the Public Opinion, school president Rev. Mike Sanders said that prior to this incident, the school had no policy regarding guns on school grounds.

Now, the school is asking that no weapons be on school grounds unless they are approved by the administration.
