MOUNT HOLLY SPRINGS, Pa.– Police in Cumberland County say numerous drivers were threatened by a man with a gun on Saturday night.
34-year-old Johnathan Fisher, of Chambersburg, Franklin County, is in custody and faces 62 charges in connection to the incident.
Police say around 5:40 p.m., officers in Mount Holly Springs received numerous reports of a man driving on Route 34, waving a gun. The man was operating a 2007 Ford Explorer and threatened people in six different vehicles.
Mount Holly Police saw the SUV in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store at East Pine Street and North Baltimore Avenue and attempted to make a traffic stop. The man in the vehicle, later identified as Fisher, fled the scene and hit a car on the way. He continued northbound on Route 34 and drove onto Interstate 81. At that point, PA State Police and Carlisle Borough Police got involved in the pursuit. Police say Fisher struck a dump truck in the northbound lane of the interstate. State troopers then initiated the precision immobilization technique to stop Johnson’s SUV, which came to a rest on the east side of the northbound lane.
Johnathan Fisher was taken into custody, and transported to Carlisle Regional Hospital. He was treated, released and remanded to Cumberland County Prison on $100,000 bail.
Earlier on Saturday, State Police in Chambersburg received reports that the driver of a vehicle fitting the description of Fisher’s, brandished a gun at three cars on U.S. Route 30.
Court documents show Fisher faces charges including: Simple Assault- 9 counts; recklessly Endangering Another Person- 9 counts; Damage to Attended Vehicles- 2 counts; Fleeing and Eluding and DUI. Fisher is also charged with numerous traffic offenses.
