LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.–A Pequea Township man convicted of child sex abuse will spend more time behind bars for again breaking court orders, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office. .
Frederick Townsend was sentenced in 2014 to 1 to 2 years in prison, plus 5 years of probation, for abusing a girl at his wife’s daycare in New Providence.
Within days of being paroled, he violated by being in contact with children – and was jailed for another 4 months, prosecutors said.
On Friday in Lancaster County Court, Townsend, 57, pleaded guilty to felony violations of Megan’s Law: having an email address and Facebook profile without telling police.
He will serve 1½ to 3 years in state prison, according to Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart, who arranged the plea agreement.
Townsend, as part of the sex-abuse conviction, is required to register his whereabouts and online activity, with police, under Megan’s Law.
The abuse happened at a daycare facility on Sawmill Road. Prosecutors said the 11-year-old victim was not a client there.
Townsend’s wife was not involved in the abuse and was not charged.
