CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. – Students at East Pennsboro Area High School will be back in class on Wednesday.  School District Superintendent Jay Burkhart announced on the district’s website that students in both the middle school and high will return to full days of instruction. Transportation will also resumed as scheduled.  The school had been closed for mold remediation.

Air quality results from testing on Sunday indicated that the air was except for one room in the high school. Room 115 had air quality samples that were considered to be outside the normal range.  The room will be off limits to staff and students. Additional cleaning of the room and HVAC unit is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.  Air quality samples will be taken later this after after the cleaning is completed. Students who have classes in the room will be relocated.

Another area of the high school that will be temporarily closed to students will be the band and chorus rooms. In consultation with contractors it has been determined the HVAC systems in these two rooms, while testing with normal air quality, are in need of recommissioning. The rooms will also require additional cleaning and sanitizing. It is anticipated the process will take a few weeks, but Dr. Burkhart said that he has been assured the rooms are within normal limits and do not pose a risk to students or staff. Students who have classes in either the band room or chorus room will also be relocated during the closure of the rooms.
